Getting a lot done...

While I have been remiss in my blogging it is not because I don't want to tell you what is going on it is just that a lot has been going on and the next few weekends are jam packed with wedding stuff.

We have:
Ordered glowsticks to light the path from the picnic house to the bus at the end of the wedding (we will be handing that job out to someone but don't worry it is most likely not you).
Ordered luminaries for outside the Picnic House.
Confirmed our ceremony musicians, picked out the processional music.
Talked to the pastor of the church and everything looks good there and he told us how much the church costs. Apparently it has not gone up in decades. I guess they are just happy for anyone who wants to marry in the church these days.
Scheduled my hair trial, make up trial, and first dress fitting.
Decided on a new first dance song.
Filled out the DJ paperwork.

Next up this weekend is:
Meet with DJ.
Have hair and make up trial.
Get marriage license (scary! makes it very real!).
Have engagement photos taken (which reminds me we have to pick a place).

Shout outs: Happy birthday Drippy and belated wishes to Jody.

Up next: stats on the RSVPs and some interesting trends. I know you can't wait...

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Billy and Jackie on their engagement.

I received a picture of a hand with a ring on it from Jackie. Confused, I called B but he was out to lunch. So after texting back "Congratulations?" I received confirmation that she is in fact engaged.

I didn't confirm it was to Billy but I am assuming so. So congratulations to those two and welcome to the family Jackie.

If this happens at the wedding...

we have some problems. Mainly the following:
1) I don't know Lucas Haas so making out with him would be awkward
2) I do not have the power to stop time but maybe I do. I would love to have that power, it was always the one I wanted on Charmed.
3) Obviously, this couple has some issues.

If you are in Denver, Death Cab for Cutie is playing at the SEIU/NEA rally for Healthcare Reform.

A side note: CSPAN is my favorite channel right now. I love the musical interludes with random delegates dancing.

Shout outs: Much belated Birthday wishes to Cousin Karen, Niece Megan

For my feet...

What I wanted to originally wear on my feet:

However, I was told that this will not provide enough support during the day and I will end up with achy feet and just not happy about it. So then I thought I would get something like these:

But then I thought I may take a cue from some people on Indie Bride and Alett and have my shoes have a bit of color, specifically blue and I thought about something like:

And while many brides change into white flip flops after the ceremony, I want to change into these:

Shout out to MOH Ann: it is her birthday!

I heart our priest

We met with the priest again on Sunday and had a nice talk. We weren't really sure what we were going to discuss but we did have to hand in our pre-cana certificate. Colleagues at work (one who is married and one who is getting married one month before me) had talked about taking the FOCCUS (Facilitating Open Couple Communication Understanding Study) test and how annoying it was. I had asked about taking the test and was relieved that Msgr. Massie had never heard of it.

From what I gather and have read it is a multiple choice test about your feelings on everything from family to careers, drugs, gambling, god in your life, divorce, children etc. It is too make sure you are on the same page or to open up discussion in the areas where you differ.

Super special shout out to super star Katie - happy birthday and good luck on your summer exams.

Want to be on tv?

Making your dream wedding a reality can be almost impossible. And if you or someone you know is getting married THIS SUMMER, then there’s very little time left to make that dream come true. That’s why “My Fair Wedding,” the newest lifestyle show from the Women’s Entertainment Network, is offering a few lucky brides a chance to have celebrity wedding planner David Tutera ENHANCE and UPGRADE their weddings before it’s too late!

In 2006, Modern Bride Magazine honored David as one of the Top 25 Trendsetters of The Year. With a few thousand dollars and his extensive knowledge and skill, David Tutera can bring some last-minute elegance to your fast-approaching nuptials.

If you or someone you know has spent months planning that dream wedding, and something STILL isn’t quite right, contact our producers TODAY! Email Wedding@pilgrimfilms.tv with the wedding date, a picture of the bride and why she needs David’s help!

Weddings should take place within an hour of New York City in July or August, 2008!

Shout out to Kerry on her birthday!

Trying on of the bridesmaid dress part 1

While BM Ellen is the only bridesmaid to actually have the dress, she opted to wait until a few months after giving birth to even try the dress on (she was eight months pregnant when the dress was brought to her). When BM Kim was up in Boston, she tried on her bridesmaid dress and while it was the same size as she tried on at RK Bridal, they fit was a lot different. I remember the sample dress was very big on her and was nervous when she ordered the same size. The sample dress would have needed a lot of alterations but when she tired on the actual dress, it was much better than expected. I mean, it will need to be taken in in spots but definitely not to the degree we both were expecting so that is good. Hopefully we do not have issues with the other dresses.

Shout out: Happy birthday to Alett!

That's what friends are for...

Has hell frozen over? B and I always say that no one comes up to visit us but here we are about to have a visitor for the second weekend in a row. Yay! Last week we had POTFRK and this week we have BM Kim. Things I want to do with Kim here:

I put new sheets on the bed last night and that is it. It is not the Ritz Carlton so I hope she doesn't expect turn down or concierge service.

Shout out to Maureen - Happy Birthday you foxy minx!

Countdown update...

Only 200 days to go. After a lull for a few months, I think our wedding activities are going to pick up a bit much to B's chagrin. I looked at our calendar and come August, the wedding will really take over my life.

Shout out to BFD (Best Friend Debbie as B calls her) - happy birthday!

Cocktails, dinner, and dancing!

Reception cards on done and they are my best work ever! Seriously, I hope the actual invitations come out as nice. B was here to help me place the cards out for drying after I inked them. You can tell I had help since they were placed in order and not scattered like the response cards. But these cards are smaller and there are aout 15 less.

Here are the reception cards:
Birthday shoutouts to Jackie and Cake Baker Extraordinaire Kristin.

Can you guess which two of the three people I wish a happy belated birthday to?

Groomsman John
Bill Belichick
Pope Benedict

Which of these ones is not like the other?

Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday to Haley Anne. And congratulations to Bridesmaid Ellen and Andrew on the birth of their first child earlier this morning. I was hoping for a puppy but I guess this will do.

This is the first niece/nephew that will know us as Aunt E and Uncle B unlike the others which are Aunt E and B or Uncle B and E.

I still want the puppy though.

What We (mostly Me) Have Done

So with the new year and all, I have been taking stock of what we have done for the wedding and what we have left to do. According to the knot checklist, we do not have anything outstanding for the next month (we have completed 49 and have 135 left - anyone want to help?). They will email me the next things in the beginning of February. I like checklists.

Things done:
Selection of date (did that twice) and time
Ceremony location
Reception location
Officiant
Caterer
Photographer
Videographer
DJ
Florist
Cupcake baker
Dress (both bride and bridesmaids)
Selection (and asking of) attendants
Registered
Groom's ring
Designed and printed save the dates (but we won't mail those out for awhile)

Not bad for being 312 days out.

Shout out: Happy Birthday to BM Ellen

Happy Birthday!

Congratulations to Teresa and Mike on the birth of their daughter, Danica Rose. She was born at 4:24 am weighing in at 8 pounds and 21 inches long. Teresa's blog is listed on the side and judging by the pictures and her posts, she is very happy not to be pregnant and to hold her baby. Both are doing fine.

Congratulations to all!

366 days to go!

It is exactly one year from the wedding day. 2008 is a leap year so that is why it is 366 days away and not 365 days.

Because I am me, B and I are going out to dinner tonight for a pre-anniversary dinner. I was planning on going to Anna's (It is the BEST burrito place in all the land - seriously next time you are in Boston you HAVE to go. Much better than that chain owned by McDonald's called Chiptotle. I can't even believe I ever went to Chiptotle. Yes I can. I got a coupon for a free burrito so of course I went.) but B mentioned going to a decent place that actually has table service. We haven't yet decided. I will let you know tomorrow where we go because I am acutely aware that many of you will have trouble sleeping until you get this information. I have a high EQ and highly attuned to these things.

Happy birthday shout out to Hugh.

Congratulations!

Yesterday was Halloween and B and I braved the commuter rail and traveled up to Salem. There were thousands of people dressed up in good and some not so good costumes. And of course there were tons of sexy cops, fire fighters, football players, doctors, nurses, maids, etc. to keep us entertained. Unfortunately, this is not that kind of blog so here is are some clean photos.

Normally, we would avoid Salem on Halloween like you avoid the East side during the Puerto Rican Day Parade. However, our friend Hugh was planning on proposing to his girlfried (and avid reader/poster of this wonderful blog) Alett. They met a few years ago on Halloween, in Salem. Luckily for everyone involved, she said yes.

Here is the happy couple. He is crazy and she is Canadian so it works for them. And their dogs are excited that the two of them are making it official - it helps them feel like a real family now, just like the other dogs at the dog park.
